How to get here
By car
Giraffe Lodge sits on the hilltop between Vijlen and Epen, directly on the Epenerbaan. Follow signs towards Epen/Vijlen and take the turning to Epenerbaan 1.
The lodge has its own car park, right on the Epenerbaan.
From Germany and Belgium
Aachen and the Three-Country Point (Drielandenpunt) are just a few minutes' drive away. Vaals is the last Dutch town before the border — ideal to combine with a visit to the Three-Country Point (Drielandenpunt).
By public transport
Bus line 149, the Panorama line between Gulpen and Vaals, stops at Vaals, Epenerbaan. That stop is in the bend right by the lodge.
Please note: line 149 runs only at weekends and during school holidays, roughly once an hour between 10.00 and 18.00. On other days, the easiest way here is by car or by bike.
On foot or by bike
Giraffe Lodge is on the edge of the Vijlenerbos, popular with walkers and cyclists. Several walking routes pass the door — an ideal stop for lunch or coffee along the way.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to book?
Booking is not required, but we do recommend it, especially from Thursday to Sunday and in fine weather. That way you are sure of a good spot, including on the terrace.
Can I come with a larger group?
Of course. For groups of 10 or more we are happy to help arrange a suitable package. Get in touch by phone or email and we will discuss the options.
Are dogs welcome?
Dogs are welcome on our terrace. Contact us if you have any questions about this.
Is the lodge accessible with a wheelchair or walker?
The entrance is wheelchair accessible. Let us know when you book and we will keep a table free that is easy to reach.
What if it rains? Can I still sit on the terrace?
Our terrace is partly covered, so during a shower you can simply keep enjoying the view. In bad weather it is just as cosy inside, with the same panoramic windows.
Can we get married at Giraffe Lodge?
